Outdoor Eyes, Enjoy Estes Park & The Estes Park Library invite you to join in a celebration of the great outdoors with a series of programs beginning in April in the Hondius Room. These programs will appeal to everyone who enjoys excitement, exploration and new experiences. BE SURE TO COME EARLY AS SEATING IS LIMITED DUE TO THE POPULARITY OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS SERIES. Dine in Estes Park before each program from 5:00 - 6:30pm with a special Enjoy Estes Park GREAT OUTDOORS DINNER (meal and drink - $4.99) and then attend the GREAT OUTDOORS SERIES PROGRAM. YOU MUST PRESENT THE DINING CERTIFICATE BELOW TO THE RESTAURANT AT TIME OF DINING. Dining is optional, but it completes the evening) as you can attend the Series without dining. Mark these dates on your calendar. PLEASE NOTE: Village Pizza will be closed on Monday for the first 2 programs (open on Mondays in June).

THE TRAVELING PHOTOGRAPHER FROM AROUND THE WORLD: (April 20)
Steven Morello, renowned wildlife photographer and award winning guide with experience on every continent will present his new book The Traveling Photographer with photographs from around the world. Steve’s photography work has appeared in National Geographic Magazine, National Geographic Books, National Geographic World Magazine, International Wildlife & The New York Times. April 20 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
HIKING SIX NATIONAL PARKS: (May 18)
Mel Tulin (Outdoor Eyes and Enjoy Estes Park) will present an exciting tour of hiking 6 National Parks: Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands (Needles & Island In The Sky), Grand Canyon, Arches & Rocky Mountain National Park with her breath-taking photographs. May 18 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
IMAGES OF ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK: (June 8th)
Erik Stensland (Estes Park photographer) will present the incredible diversity of Rocky Mountain National Park from the rugged peaks, barren tundra and alpine lakes to gentle meadows and wetlands with his photographs, his book and a discussion. June 8th at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
HIGH CLIMBS FROM ESTES PARK TO EVEREST: (June 22)
Winter mountaineering in the Colorado Rockies and the California Sierra Nevada were the perfect training grounds for going on to climb high peaks, including Everest and an attempt on K2. This presentation by Fred Barth will touch on some of these early climbs, focus on Everest's Tibetan side, and his attempt on K2's Abruzzi Ridge. June 22 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
SO... YOU WANT TO BE A SEA KAYAKER?: (June 29)
Join Philip Tulin (Outdoor Eyes and Enjoy Estes Park) for an overview of kayaking basics 101: How to select a kayak and kayaking gear, basic kayaking techniques, navigation and anything else you need to get you going on your kayaking journey. Some paddling experiences of the New England coast, Kauai and Maui will be discussed. June 29 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
CLIMBING AND BACKCOUNTRY SKIING IN RMNP AND PERU: (July 6)
Join ClimbingLife Guide’s Eli Helmuth for an hour of amazing photos and stories of climbing and backcountry skiing in Rocky Mountain National Park. Eli will also present a show on his travels to Peru for mountain climbing in the heart of the South American Andes. July 6 at 7:00-8:00pm.

Terry Chiplin is a life coach, motivational speaker, fitness coach and owner of Active at Altitude in Estes Park. July 20 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
OPEN ROAD WONDERS AND MAGICAL MOUNTAINS OF THE WORLD: (July 27)
In the summer of 2006, Stan Havlick completed a 14 year quest to cycle nearly 20,000 miles coast-to-coast across all the six bikeable continents. His other passions is climbing. He is a ski instructor, triathlete and mountaineer. Join Stan as he shares his tales and photos of some of his extraordinary adventures and unique cultural experiences. July 27 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
SCOTT RASHID, ARTIST AND AUTHOR OF "SMALL MOUNTAIN OWLS": (Aug. 3)
Scott Rashid is an avid birder who has helped with banding and rehabilitation efforts for nearly twenty years. His new book is illustrated with beautiful drawings and photographs of the small owls that inhabit the Rockies, with special emphasis on those of Rocky Mountain National Park.. Aug. 3 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
A PHOTOGRAPHY EVENING AND BOOK-SIGNING WITH JAMES FRANK: (Aug. 10)
James Frank will present the making of his book, Magic in the Mountains and his upcoming new book, Rocky Mountain National Park: Colorado’s Living Legacy, both co-authored with R. Paul Firnhaber. He will use his photography to illustrate how he created these two books, and met the challenges of selecting topics and photographs. Aug. 10 at 7:00-8:00 pm.
 
CLIMBING AND BACKCOUNTRY SKIING IN RMNP AND EQUADOR: (Aug. 24)
Join ClimbingLife Guide’s Eli Helmuth for an hour of amazing photos and stories of climbing and backcountry skiing in Rocky Mountain National Park. Eli will also present a show on his travels to Ecuador for mountain climbing to 20,500’ on the Equator in the South American Andes. Aug. 24 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
HIKING IN ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK: A FOUR SEASON PARK: (Sept. 14)
Mel Tulin (Outdoor Eyes and Enjoy Estes Park), an avid outdoor enthusiast and hiker, will take you on many of the popular hikes in RMNP with spectacular photographs to show just how beautiful RMNP is... in all of the four seasons from fall to winter to spring and then summer. Sept. 14 at 7:00-8:00pm.
 
HEALTHY ATTITUDES AT HIGH ALTITUDES: (Sept. 21)
Veteran park ranger and retired science teacher David A. Adams will explore the fascinating subject of physiological adaptations to high altitude conditions. The human body automatically performs a myriad of short-term and long-term adjustments for survival in thin air. Learn about preventative measures and treatment of high altitude illnesses. Sept. 21 at 7:00-8:00pm.
