Fiery Sunset In Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park!

This fiery sunrise was just gorgeous in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park the other night!

As someone on our Facebook page said, “I’ve seen it raining fire in the sky…” one of the lyrics in Colorado’s John Denver song, “Rocky Mountain High.”

Breaking Trail To Cub Lake in RMNP After The Snow

We were the first ones out on the trail to Cub Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park after the new snow a few days ago.

It was such a treat. Quiet and solitude. We didn’t see anyone else until we were almost down again.

We Got A Lot Of Snow In Estes Park And RMNP!

What a difference a day makes in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Saturday was warm and sunny and Sunday the snows started into Monday.

By Monday afternoon we had about 8-10 inches and it was still snowing. I even had to put my winter jacket on…first time in a long while!

Happy Winter!

There’s A Lot Of Coyotes By Lake Estes And The Golf Course This Winter!

I was so surprised to see this sign about the coyotes by Lake Estes and the golf course the other day. We frequently will see a coyote or two roaming in the area.

There must be quite a few coyotes hanging out there this winter to put that sign up!

Snowman At Sprague Lake in RMNP

Someone made this snowman along the trail at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.

It had a cute face, but I loved the sun shining from the back, looking out to the lake. What do you think?

The Riverwalk In Downtown Estes Park Was Pretty With The New Snow Yesterday

When we got up yesterday morning there was about 5″ of new snow on the ground We shoveled and then drove into town to get a bite to eat.

I decided to walk home as it was so pretty and quiet outside. I love the solitude early in the morning when no one is around.

I loved this photograph of the bridge over Fall River along the Riverwalk in downtown Estes Park. You can see Old Man Mountain in the distance.

And then about 11:00…it started snowing again. It snowed all day and all night!

Here’s Looking At Ewe in Estes Park!

When the Bighorn Sheep come down from the high mountains this time of year because the snow is too deep to find enough grass to eat, it is usually later in the morning. By 3:00 pm or so, they are headed back up to the higher, safer grounds for the night.

On their way up, this herd of about 30 Bighorn Sheep walked right up our side yard, grazing as they strolled along. This was the last Ewe to pass by. She looked right in the window at me. I happened to have my camera ready… 🙂

So adorable! Look at that face!

I was walking home from town on Saturday when I saw this herd of about 30 Bighorn Sheep climbing up and all around the tall rocks. They were pretty high!

They maneuvered the rocks without caution and were loving all the photographers on the side of the road clicking away! I zoomed in on the first photograph so you could see them better. Pretty cool, don’t you think?
