Phil and I headed out on Black Canyon Trail the other day to see what new wildflowers might be blooming along the trail. As we stopped to take some photographs and admire the beautiful views of the snowy mountains, I heard a Towhee singing away. They have a very distinctive song that my Dad taught me when I was a little girl. Their song sounds like someone singing “Drink your tea…”

I usually see the Towhees along the brush where they like to hunt for food but this Green-tailed Towhee was singing away high up in the tree.

He was just beautiful…in appearance and song. Isn’t he just magnificent?

Have you ever seen a Green-tailed Towhee?
