Last week, while it was snowing furiously outside, Rocky Mountain National Park was burning its piles of beetle-kill trees.

Please note the pile burning photographs were taken on  April 17.  What a difference a week makes!  Park fire staff were digging through the deep snow as well as “post-holing” to burn the piles.

What a great time to burn the piles…while it is snowing!

    Delightfully Dramatic! Love the contrast of the raging fire surrounded by snow as nature displays its strongly contrasting and powerful moods.
