I was hiking along one of our secret trails in Rocky Mountain National Park last summer when I saw this Hoary Comma butterfly. I first saw it on a rock and it was hardly noticeable. Then it flew up on this dead branch and was much more easily seen.
They are pretty cool looking. Have you ever seen one?

The photography is superb indeed and the subject conjures up visions of Hades.
