I was hiking along one of our secret trails in Rocky Mountain National Park last summer when I saw this Hoary Comma butterfly. I first saw it on a rock and it was hardly noticeable. Then it flew up on this dead branch and was much more easily seen.
They are pretty cool looking. Have you ever seen one?

I have always been an outdoor enthusiast. Living in Connecticut for most of my life, I love to hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, ocean kayak and photograph nature.
With our house in Estes Park only a few yards away from Rocky Mountain National Park, it is just incredible. The views are spectacular and the wildlife is just amazing. There is always something to do and something new to see.
I would like to share my blog with you and my love of the great outdoors. Please feel free to comment on any of the stories. It would be fun to hear from any or all of you reading my stories.
