There sure were a lot of mushrooms in Rocky Mountain National Park last summer. I don’t think I ever took notice of them before. I couldn’t believe the many varieties that I saw.
This one looked like a toasted marshmallow to me. What do you think? Does anyone know what kind it is? I’m not much of an expert on identifying mushrooms.

To me it suggests a mushroom that has been dipped in cream.
You sent me on a search. Great photo. Your photo is much better than in my guides and the online guides.
Closest I can find is Amanita magniverrucata, the pine cone mushroom.
Scott, I went online to Google Images and it looks very much like one on the first page. Thanks! Mel
