One day last summer as Phil and I were hiking along one of our favorite trails, we saw this family of turkeys on the trail in front of us. It was a mom and herĀ four chicks. It was so cute how they were also walking right on the trail, except that one who is a little wayward! Ha!

Cute, don’t you think? A Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I thought the turkeys would be appropriate on this special day!

    Absolutely adorable, Mel. Yesterday one of the Turkey families, that comes to find yummy tidbits on our front lawns, was here. I must say that I was tempted to whisper a warning to them that Turkey Day was the next day.
    Much as I love the sight of these families I learned, while on one of my daily hikes in our Audubon Sanctuary, that they can be very scary, if disturbed in mating season, when I was attacked by a male who came out of cover while I was walking by and blocked my passage with wings fully outstretched and impressively menacing beak.
