When I got up this morning, I always walk out on the deck to check and see of there are any new wildflowers in our yard. Yesterday I found our third Poppy…what a big treat! We’ve been trying to grow them for years!
As I was walking down the deck, I saw this little thing at the end. I had no idea what it was. It looked like a baby bird but it was so tiny. I went back inside so I could get closer through the window. I didn’t want to scare it away. It was just sitting there, not making a sound. How was its mom going to find it if it didn’t make any noise? Was it injured? I could then see its long beak and knew it was a baby hummingbird. How cute! Look at the different coloring that a baby hummingbird has as compared to an adult bird!
I quickly got my camera and took a couple of photographs through the window. We watched it for a while, hoping that its mom would find her way onto our deck and then left it alone for a bit. When we looked out about 10 minutes later, it was gone! What a delight to find a little baby hummingbird on our deck. I had never even seen one before!
